Katherine Hanson

Katherine A. Hanson passed away on March 4, 2018, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Friday, March 9th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Dollars for Scholars or Faith in Action.
Kathy was born in Breckenridge, MN, on August 4th, 1942, to Robert Totzke and Dorothy Thoennes. She managed the Cedar Inn Bottle Shop for seven years and was a multi-peril crop insurance agent for 31 years. Spending time with family and friends made Kathy the happiest. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, reading, and cooking. In 1993, she married Gary Hanson, who was loved by all of her five blessed children: John Fuller (Tacoma, WA), Jody (Kahn) Koropatnicki (Northwood, ND), Laurie (Tom) McFadden (Cavalier, ND), Les Fuller (Roy, WA), Lisa (Brian) Murphy (Grand Forks, ND). She loved her grandchildren: Shawnee Fuller (Tacoma, WA), Cody (Tenae) Aston (St. Cloud, MN), Cady (Ryan) Paulson (Fargo, ND), Craig McFadden (San Francisco, CA), Kyle McFadden (Cambridge, MA), Brandi Murphy (Greashan, OR), Brian Murphy Jr. (Fargo, ND), Jessica Murphy (Grand Forks, ND), and Austin Murphy (Grand Forks, ND), along with her great-granddaughter Chloe Lynn (Grand Forks, ND), with three more great-grandchildren expected. She is also survived by her mother, Lois Anderson (Morris, MN); and sisters: Sandy O'Shea (Velva, ND) and Carol Brevig (Newport, OR). Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dorothy, daughter Laurie, and son Les.
