June L. Slama

June L. Slama, 87, of Walhalla, ND passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center of Walhalla.

June L. Hallgrimson was born January 27, 1924, at Milton, ND to Johann and Rachel (Thompson) Hallgrimson. She grew up in the Milton area and later taught school at Union, ND.

On June 20, 1947, she married Philip G. Slama at Milton. After their marriage they lived in Walhalla. June worked at the Cavalier Air Force Station.

She was an avid artist and a member of the Walhalla Brush Bush, Walhalla Country Club, and Degree of Honor. June was also active in the local homemakers club and bridge club. While Phil and June were active in archery, she earned a North Dakota state championship.

Survivors include her sons: Joe (Margaret) Slama, Miami, FL, Jack Slama, Fargo, ND, Paul (Donna) Slama, Tacoma, WA; grandchildren: Philip and Jennifer Slama; Darian, Deyton, and Deston Slama and Jarrod Haynes; siblings: Kenneth (Barb) Hallgrimson, Grand Forks, ND and Gloria (Bruce) Ellis, San Diego, CA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Phil on April 5, 2003; and brothers: Howard, Robert, and Raymond Hallgrimson.
