June Quaife

June 25, 1925 — April 8, 2013

June was born on June 21, 1925 in Neche, ND to Iver and Mary (Gladue) Nelson. Two great men called her their wife, five children called her Mom and hundreds knew her as "Mugga." After marrying Garnet Mountain in 1943, their early years were spent on the family farm working and raising their family. After Garnet passed away in 1963, she met and married David Quaife in 1967. They lived in Park River for a time before settling in Neche, ND.
Christ Lutheran Church and WELCA were a very important part of June's life. Her active social life included Birthday Club, Red Hats, Senior Citizens, and Northdale Coffee Club. June's favorite pastimes were baking, crossword puzzles, writing poetry, and visiting with her kids on the phone. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary.
Survivors include her husband David Quaife; daughters, Jan (Chuck) Gladue, Judy (Victor) Cursons; sons, Garnet Iver Mountain and Tim (Barbara) Mountain; brother, David (India) Nelson; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 23 step great-grandchildren; adopted family Stuart and Rose Symington and their seven wonderful children.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Jill
Brusseau; grandson, Brian Olafson; granddaughter, Leah Gladue; brothers: Emil, Iver, Homer, Lloyd; sister, Eva.
June "Mugga" Nelson Mountain Quaife, age 87 of Neche, ND passed away on April 8, 2013 at home with her husband and children at her side.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Neche Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Neche Catholic Cemetery , Peters Cemetery, Svold, ND or charity of donors choice.

Beth Peterson and Intern Pastor Patty Meyer; Music: Curtis Stegman, Soloist and Betty Lou Stegman, Pianist; Casket Bearers: Michael Brusseau, Jay Brusseau, Tim Brusseau, Jared Mountain, Christopher Nelson, Alan Olafson, Richard Pietz; Honorary Pallbearers: All of June's grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
