Judy R. Downs

Judy R. Downs, 81, of Langdon, ND, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon, ND. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Langdon United Methodist Church, Langdon, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, February 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, ND. Burial will be held at the Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon.
Judith R. "Judy" Bateman was born May 13, 1934 at Devils Lake, ND to Edwin and Grace (Nickeson) Bateman. She grew up in Clyde, ND and graduated from Clyde High School in 1951. In 1955, she graduated from the UND School of Nursing.
On October 16, 1955, Judy married Wiley Downs at Clyde. After their marriage they lived in Langdon, where she worked as an RN at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital. During that time she delivered many of the babies born to area families. Judy was a devoted member of the Langdon Methodist Church and also a member of the P.E.O and Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the boards of the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital and the Cavalier County Senior Citizens. Judy was an avid UND hockey fan "Go Sioux" and was a season ticket holder for many years. Everyone enjoyed her delicious special K bars. She dedicated her life to her family and was "Grandma Judy" to many.
Survivors include her children: Chuck (Kathy) Downs, Langdon, ND, Kathy (Randy) Hiltner, Devils Lake, ND, Pat (Cindy) Downs, West Fargo, ND, Paul (Lisa) Downs, Milliken, CO; son-in-law, Curt Fischer, Langdon; grandchildren: Abby (Todd) Borchardt, Tim "Timmer" Downs; Jamie (Steve) Koeritz, Lindsey Hiltner; Jill and Austin Downs; Carlye (Justin) Anderson; Travis, Allie, and Sammie Downs; great-grandsons: Jack, Ben, and Sylvester; sister, Janet Herber.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Wiley on June 30, 1993; daughter, Carrie Fischer.
