Joyce Giles

Joyce Giles, 81, passed away Monday, August 7, 2006, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon, ND.

Joyce Irene (Denler) Giles was born April 23, 1925, at Clyde, ND, to Chester and Mary Irene (Murphy) Denler. She attended Huron School and graduated from Langdon High School in 1943. She worked for a short time in the National Tea Store. Joyce and Marvin Giles were united in Marriage on October 27, 1943. They lived and farmed west of Langdon in Waterloo Township. They moved into Langdon into 1987.

Joyce was a member of the Langdon Presbyterian Church, was active in the women’s organization, and taught Sunday School. She had been a member of a Homemaker’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, the Maple Manor Auxiliary, the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Friendship Quilters Guild. Joyce also enjoyed reading, sewing, photography and creative writing and participated in several State Fairs. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as arranged travel tours.

Joyce is survived by her children: Marilyn (Richard) McDougall, Langdon, ND; Richard (Shirley) Giles, Redwood Falls, MN; Patricia (Arnold) Rohloff, Liberal, KS; and also considered as family Kevin and Mary Beth (Rutledge) Coombs, Martin, ND. Grandchildren: Tom (Chris) McDougall, West Fargo, ND; Steve McDougall, Ft. Meyers, FL; Mary (Tom) Rohleder, Fargo, ND; Sueann (Dan) Chase, Fargo, ND; Jon (Barb) Giles, Sioux Falls, SD; Julie (Kelly) Dawson, Altoona, IA; Jen (Dean) Schumann, Fridley, MN; Sgt. Scott Rohloff, Oahu, Hawaii; Valerie Rohloff, Elizabeth Rohloff and David Rohloff, Liberal, KS; Sarah Coombs, Fargo, ND; Jason (Stephanie) Coombs, Fargo, ND. Great-grandchildren: Meagan and Morgan McDougall; Matthew, Mark and Zach Rohleder (with a fourth one due any day); Blake Chase; Noah and Alyssa Giles; Ellie and Paige Dawson; sister-in-law Nell (Giles) Cadwallader, Blackfoot, ID; one niece and several nephews and cousins.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and husband Marvin.

VISITATION will begin at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon with a 7:30 pm prayer service at the Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, ND.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the Langdon Presbyterian Church with Rev. Byron Dealey presiding.

INTERMENT will be at the Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
