Joseph M. Schill

Joseph M. Schill, 91, of Langdon, ND, formerly of Hannah, ND, died on October 17, 2010 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon.

Joseph Schill was born on May 4, 1919, in Dresden Township, the son of Valentine and Mathilda (Koehmstedt) Schill. He grew up and was educated in the area. He married Margaret Hoffarth on February 17, 1944, at Mt. Carmel, ND. The couple began farming in the Dresden Township and had two children, Kathleen and Duane. Although he retired in 1982, Joe continued to raise hogs, a few cattle and enough chickens for the family’s use. In 2008, Joseph and Margaret moved into the Maple Manor Care Center.

Joseph enjoyed his livestock, especially his pigs. He raised feeder pigs for 40 years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a township supervisor for many years. Joseph was the last of a family of eight. His daughter Kathleen Iverson passed away on July 21, 2006.

Joe is survived by his wife Margaret, son Duane Schill of Hannah, ND; son-in-law Bill Iverson of Cando; three grandchildren Paul (Diane) Iverson, Todd (Cheri) Iverson and Scott (special friend Diane) Iverson; and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Marie Iverson; his parents Valentine and Mathilda; seven brothers William, Alexander, Clarence, Stanley, Peter, Herbert and Jerome Schill.

VISITATION will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary and vigil service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of services at the church on Thursday.



SERVICES will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Michael's Catholic Church of Wales, ND.



INTERMENT The St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery of Wales.
