Joseph Hoffarth, 89, of Maida, ND passed away April 30, 2009 at the Maple Manor Care Center.
Joseph F. Hoffarth was born November 8, 1919 to Dominic and Anna (Schuler) Hoffarth in the Mt. Carmel area. He grew up on the family farm near Maida. He was united in marriage to Dolores Girodat on May 8, 1957 at Wales, ND. They made their home on the farm near Maida where they raised a family of five, farmed, and had cattle, pigs and chickens. He served on the Maida School Board and was a long time member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church of Mt. Carmel, ND.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years. Dolores, his children: Arlene Hoffarth of Oakdale, MN; Kathy (Greg) Krause of Grand Forks, ND; Joleen (Steve) Kinzler of Kulm, ND; Donald (Ronda) Hoffarth of Langdon, ND, grandchildren: Kris Hoffarth, Joe Hoffarth, Jason Hoffarth, Lindsey Hoffarth, Devin Hoffarth, Casey Hoffarth, Michael Krause, Jonathan Krause, Tabitha Kinzler, Owen Kinzler, five great-grandchildren: Micah Hoffarth, Dominic Hoffarth, Aiden Hoffarth, Mia Hoffarth, Tristan Hoffarth, brothers and sisters: Margaret (Joseph) Schill of Langdon, ND; Ronald (Grace) Hoffarth of Grand Forks, ND; Mary Alice (Mathias) Girodat of Langdon, ND; Lorraine (Allen) Girodat of Crookston, MN; Frances Fischer of Fargo, ND, Dorothy (Alfred) Johnson of Moorhead, MN along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Darrell, brother Gilbert and sisters Eileen Schill and Loretta Schill.
VISITATION will begin at 2:30pm with a 4:00pm prayer service all at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Monday.
