Joseph E. Denault, 64, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after an eight year battle with cancer.
Joseph Edward was born January 5, 1951 to Levi and Elizabeth Denault at home near Olga, ND. He grew up and attended school in Nekoma. Joe married Gloria Schill on February 7, 1970 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, ND. They farmed for five years near Mt. Carmel, and Joe attended trade school in Montana during that time. In 1975, they moved to Langdon, and Joe worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. After getting hurt and having to leave his job with the railroad, he and his brother-in-law, Valley, started J & V Carpet Cleaning. In 2005, Joe and Gloria moved to Grand Forks, ND where they currently resided.
Joe was a car fanatic and loved Western movies and mowing on his riding lawn mower. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon and St. Michaelââ¬â¢s Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.
Surviving Joe are his wife, Gloria, of Grand Forks; son Gary Denault of Langdon; daughter Pauline (Dan) Hansel of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Melissa, Gary Jr., Samantha, Ashley, Sean, Danielle, Travis & Lucas; great-grandchildren: Kara, McKenzie, Angel, Damein, Myleigh, Brandyn, Arianna & Mason; siblings: Raymond (Jana) Denault, Dennis Denault, Louie Denault, Evelyn Harsted, & Irene Riedhammer; and sister-in-law Shirley Denault.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Alex Schill; brother Harvey; nieces Francie Riedhammer & Connie Mae Schill; brothers-in-law: Francis Riedhammer, Benny Schill Sr. & Blaine (Ralph) Schill; and sisters-in-law: Jeanie Welch & Bernice Schill.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. with Rosary starting at 6:40 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.
