Jonathan Ashley Gratton, 46, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully, at his home, on May 29th, 2023. Jon was born on September 2nd, 1976, in Winkler, Manitoba to Kelly Gratton and Joyce Schill-Gratton.
Jon was remarkably intelligent. He was an avid reader and had a thirst for knowledge. He graduated Langdon High School in 1995. After which time he started his military service career with the Army National Guard. He served honorably for 24 years in the 3662nd Maintenance Company, the 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and the Camp Grafton Training Center. He was passionate about serving his country and was proud to be associated with the military.
Jon found enjoyment in life's simple pleasures. Hunting, shooting, riding motorcycles, and helping people were all things he enjoyed doing. He was a friend to all and was a genuinely kind man. Jon had a beautiful mind and a heart that loved deeply to the depth of his soul.
Jon was the beloved son of Kelly (Lori) Gratton and Joyce Schill-Gratton. Godfather to his nephew Zander Jon Gratton. Jon will always be remembered as a loving brother to Thomas (Viktoriia) Gratton, Courtney (Sarah) Gratton, Amber (Adam) Longtine, and Kellee (Travis) Thacker and life-long best friend/“brother-from-another-mother” Matthew (Mandy) Georgeson . He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Genie Gratton, Louis and Ernie Schill, his niece Natalie Longtine, and his aunt Cyndi Schill.
A graveside service to celebrate Jon's life will be held on June 10th at 3 pm at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cemetery in Olga, ND. Family and friends are invited to attend the service and pay their respects to Jon.
