Jon Finnson

Jon Finnson, 71, of Langdon, ND, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Jon was born January 16, 1948, in Langdon, ND, to Helgi and Kristbjorg (Johnson) Finnson. He grew up and went to school in the Milton area, graduating from Milton High School in 1966 where he was an active member of the FFA. He started working at the Texaco Station in Langdon after graduation and then went on to work for the City of Langdon Water Department for 43 years. On September 13, 1991, Jon and Kathleen Arens were united in marriage. Jon loved the Twins, going fishing & hunting, and playing the card game Skip-Bo with friends and family.

Surviving Jon are his wife, Kathy, of Langdon; children: Kevin (Marcie) Finnson, Jeramey Finnson, and Heather Finnson – all of Langdon, Lisa (Kelly) Thompson of Langdon, and Anthony (Kayle) Arens of Mora, MN; grandchildren: Taylor, Brendin, Devin, Andrea, Dylan, Savannah, Angilina, Gabriel, Isaiah, Amanda, Tanner, Hope, Danilynn, and Tristan; brother Sigurjon (Marlene) Finnson of Hamilton, ND; brothers-in-law Dennis Papenfuss and Lenny Arens; and sister-in-law Barb Arens along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: infant brothers Ingimar and baby Finnson, Doris Papenfuss, Gudrun (Fred) Holm, Thordur (Juanita) Finnson, and Gladys (Joseph) Cox.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in the spring at Fjalla Cemetery, rural Milton.
