John M. Schroeder

John M. Schroeder age 87, of Cavalier, ND died on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND, where he has been a resident since August of 2004. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
John M. Schroeder was born June 22, 1919, at Mohall, ND to William and Sarah (Fischer) Schroeder. At the age of two his family moved to a farm near Cavalier. He grew up in the Cavalier area where he attended Krak Country School.
On February 13, 1954, he married Elmira Steinbach at Hallock, MN. After their marriage they farmed in the Cavalier area. He was active in 4-H for over 20 years. John enjoyed gardening and sports. Before the Cavalier sports teams took buses to events, John assisted in chauffeuring kids to various events. .
He is survived by his children, Robert (Jean) Schroeder and Karen (Jim) Brown, all of Cavalier, ND; Janice (John) Douville, Waconia, MN; grandchildren, Kristin (Pat) Kalahar, Jay Schroeder, Camille Brown, Brant and Matthew Douville, great granddaughter, Marieda Kalahar; sisters-in-law, Mickey Schroeder, Vista, CA and Lucille Hinkle, Cavalier, ND.
John was also preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elmira on July 9, 2001; son, Wayne; brother, Warren; and sister, Marion Schroeder.

Casket Bearers: Daivd Hartz, Keith Hartz, Jason Hinkle, Darrell Kemnitz, Kurt Kemnitz, Bret Kiemele, Neil Sagert, and Kevin Sommer.
