John S. Reynolds age 87 of Cavalier, ND died on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 5, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Saturday, October 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
John S. Reynolds was born July 19, 1921, at Lakota, ND to Angus and Mary (Schoen) Reynolds. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Kenmare, ND and Itasca State Park. From 1942 to 1945, John served in the U.S. Army.
On December 27, 1946, he married Mavis Westensee at Walker, MN. In 1947, they moved to Cavalier where he worked as a meat cutter for Elmer Burt. For several years John was a partner with Lyle Lesher at the Cavalier Meat Processing Plant. From 1970 to 1995, he was a police officer with the Cavalier Police Department.
He was a life member of the Cavalier Fire Department and a member of the Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis; children, Robert Reynolds, Eagan, MN, Duane Reynolds, Cavalier, ND, LuAnn Reynolds (David Arvidson), Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Tonya and Boe; three great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Honkola, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Rose Reynolds, Moscow, ID.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Bill and Roy "Mickey", sisters, Marie Olson and Betty Foss.
Clergy: Rev. Beth Peterson.
Military Rites by the Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Music: Christine Hughes, Organist.
Casket Bearers: Dave Arvidson, Red Freschett, Joe Martindale, Keith Ogden, Kevin Olson, and Bob Taillon.
