John Monette, 92, of Pembina, ND died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Kittson County Memorial Nursing Home, Hallock, MN. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church, Pembina, ND. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the Pembina Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
John L. Monette was born October 22, 1915, in Pembina Township to Daniel E. and Severine (Peterson) Monette. He grew up and attended school in Pembina. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharge from the service he returned to Pembina.
On May 26, 1948, he married Betty E. Johnson at Pembina, ND. They lived at Pembina where John was employed at Dick's Bar, worked as Pembina city water superintendent, rural mail carrier, school bus driver, and Motor Coach Industries until his retirement.
Survived by his children, Beverly (Tom) Burke, Pembina, ND, Shirley (Donald) Anderson, Harwood, ND, Bob (Jill) Monette, Virginia Beach, VA, Ron (Peggy) Monette, Pembina, ND, Herb (Evalinda) Monette, Weslaco, TX, Harold Monette, Blaine, WA, Judy (Lynn) Schroeder, Cavalier, ND; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Daniel Monette, Murrietta, CA and Olive (Glen) Clow, Renton, WA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Betty on August 5, 2005, three brothers, and three sisters.
