John J. Kalis age 52 of Walhalla, ND died on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at his home. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
John J. Kalis was born March 19, 1957, at Walhalla, ND to Charles and Eleanore (Schwartz) Kalis. He grew up and attended school in Walhalla. For the past several years he has worked at Motor Coach Industries at Pembina, ND. He was married to Sharon Hoffarth in July of 1997. John loved hunting, fishing, sitting around the campfire while camping with his sons. He was truly an outdoors person.
He is survived by his sons, Kelly Kalis, Hamilton, ND and Kevin (Amanda) Kalis, Walhalla, ND; granddaughters, Kayleigh and Carley; and brothers, Leo (Kathy) Kalis, Frank (Sharon) Kalis, Albert Kalis, George (Rose) Kalis, all of Walhalla, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Thomas Krupich.
Honorary Pallbearers: Albert Kalis, Bryan Kalis, Frank Kalis, George Kalis, Leo Kalis, and Wade Kalis.
