John L Crosby

John L. Crosby, age 96, of Cavalier, ND died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation held Friday, July 31st, at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation also at the church one hour before time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
John was born October 8, 1912, to William and Miriah (Harding) Crosby near Cavalier. He grew up and attended school in the Cavalier area.
On October 25, 1933, he married Ruby C. Vaughn in Cavalier. They farmed in the Cavalier area until his retirement in 1976, and in 1985, they moved to Cavalier. John enjoyed playing pool, dancing, playing cards, and the board game, Aggravation. Ruby Crosby died January 4, 2009.
Survivors are his grandchildren, Larry (Diane) Crosby, Plainwell, MI, Robert (Kathy) Crosby, Lawrence, MI, Sheila Crosby Stevens, Coloma, MI, Randy Crosby, Wildwood, FL, Donald Jr. (Tracy) Crosby, Valparaiso, IN, and Shonda Crosby, and several great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, son, Donald Crosby, grandson, Richard Crosby, and brothers Alvin and Frank Crosby.
Clergy: Rev. Lori Broschat.
Music: Lois Coggon, pianist and Layne Dungan, soloist.
Pallbearers: Ronald Freschett, Gilbert Hornbaker, Harold Kopf, Leo Lage, Duane Rene, and Mark Stegman.
