John Buchweitz

John Buchweitz, 100, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Dresden, ND, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Johan (John) Richard Fredrick Buchweitz was born on November 4, 1911 to Karl and Pauline (Gerth) Buchweitz on the family farm near Dresden, ND. He was one of twelve children. He attended church school at Immanuel Lutheran Church and then the Langdon Township Rural Public School. John farmed near Dresden until retiring in 1973, but continued to live in the house he was born in until he moved to Maple Manor Care Center in 1997.

John enjoyed playing pinochle, visiting with family and friends, reading, and playing the violin, Jew’s harp, and harmonica. He had read the Holy Bible more than 125 times.

John is survived by his grandchildren: Todd McMichael of Fargo, ND and Robin McMichael of Fargo, ND; one great-grandchild: Grace; and many very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Polly McMichael; and siblings: Ernest, Annie Zickrick, Elsie, Edith, Hertha, Martha Diver, Herman, Amanda Kruger, Charlie, Emilie (Millie) Rose/ Gronseth, and Mary Ost.

A memorial service for John will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
