John Bordeniuk age 89 of Pembina, ND. died on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral Rite will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church, Pembina, ND. Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday. Burial in the Pembina Cemetery.
John was born April 27, 1920, at Pembina, ND to John Sr. and Rose (Drost) Bordeniuk. He grew up in the Pembina area and attended the Gerouix Bridge Country School. After attending the Walsh Co Agricultural School in Park River, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Germany. Following his discharge from the service, he worked on the railroad in Toledo, OH and later farmed in the Pembina area until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pembina.
On October 22, 1945, he married Mary Layhon at Pembina. She survives; as do his children, Marjorie Forbes, Elk River, MN, Richard Bordeniuk and Ronald Bordeniuk, both of St. Vincent, MN; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Mary Braun, Perkasie, PA; half sister, Toni (Andy) Kukowski, Hallock, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, John and Rose Bordeniuk, stepmother, Lena Bordeniuk, and brother, George Bordeniuk.

Music: Karin Ohmann, Soloist and Charlene Klegstad, Organist.
