JoAnn Hardy

JoAnn L. Hardy, 82, of Cavalier, ND passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church.
JoAnn was born April 11, 1935 at Bottineau, ND to Joe and Sarah (Arnason) Hillman. She grew up in Upham, ND and moved to the family homestead near Concrete, ND with her family. JoAnn attended school in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1952. She then worked at the Walhalla State Bank.
On December 19, 1953, she married Lyle D. Hardy at Walhalla, ND. After their marriage they lived in Oakland, CA while Lyle served in the U.S. Marine Corp. In 1955, they returned to North Dakota where they lived on the family homestead near Concrete. JoAnn drove school bus for the Cavalier Public School for 30 plus years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other things she enjoyed were crocheting, sewing, embroidery, gardening, cross-word puzzles, cooking, hummingbirds, Minnesota Twins, and the Grand Forks Herald Bingo.
She is survived by her children: Gary (Faye) Hardy, Mohall, ND, Joe (Norine) Hardy and Michelle (Don) Murrray, all of Cavalier, ND, John (Becky) Hardy, Rolla, ND, Todd Hardy (Elizabeth Haraseth), Langdon, ND, Brenda (Bob) Mitzel, York, ND, Rita (Brian) Visser, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Theresa, Mike (Steph), Tiffany Hardy; Kayla (Mike) Bonewell and Brett Hardy; Cordell, Tatia, Kyle Hardy; Katey, Dalton, Elizabeth Visser; great-grandchildren: Alex, Kennedy, Grady; step-grandchildren: Joe (Steph) Murray, Arianna and Aiden Haraseth; step-great grandchildren: Lexi, Joey, Devi; sister, Lois (Bill) Hardy; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hillman and Linda Fischer; brothers-in-law: Jim (Charlotte) Hardy and Tom (Joanne) Hardy; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lyle; parents, Joe and Sarah Hillman; brother, Greemer Hillman; brother-in-law, Tom Fischer.
