Jim Johnston, 69, of Cavalier, ND passed away Monday, November 26 2012, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND.
James V. Johnston was born June 13, 1943, at Seattle, WA to Vernon and Beaulah (Bradshaw) Johnston. He attended school at Grafton, ND and Crystal, ND. Jim worked for various trucking companies and later owned and operated his own trucking business for several years. Jim was a member of the North Pullers Tractor Association and also served on the Hamilton City Council.
On December 22, 1984, he married Joyce O'Hara at Cavalier. She survives so do his children: Todd Johnston (Tami Letexier), Cavalier, Connie Hanenberg and Jennifer Johnston (Ira Krinsky) all of Fargo, ND and Justin (Amy) Johnston, Belle Plaine, MN; grandchildren: Savannah and Cole; Brittany and Madison; Olivia; Alaina and Aaron; step grandchild, Mariena; great grandchildren: Brooklyn and Cooper; siblings: Kathleen (Jim) Foltz, Minot, ND and Michelle Jesperson, East Grand Forks, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Clergy: Rev. Lori Broschat.
Music: Jenny DeMell, Soloist and ArvaDell Sharp, Organist.
Casket Bearers: Michael Burns, Dustin Fladland, Ryan Foltz, Scott Foltz, Gary Hanson, Chris Hunter, Dale Hunter, and Richard Mitchell.
