Jeanette Wedwick

Jeanette Wedwick, 79, of Osnabrock, ND, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Jeanette Backes was born December 15, 1938, in Dresden, ND, to Louie and Elsie (Ring) Backes. She went to school in the Osnabrock, ND area and graduated in 1957. On December 4, 1957, Jeanette and LuVerne “Bud” Wedwick were united in marriage in Canada. They made their home in several towns in the upper midwest following Bud’s job. Jeanette ran the café in Osnabrock, ND, for many years while also running the bar with her husband, Bud. She also worked at the nursing home in Osnabrock. Jeanette worked as a bookkeeper in Hazen, ND, and cooked and waitressed in Pick City, ND. In 2003, she and Bud returned to Osnabrock. They were able to travel and took their 5th wheel camper to Texas, California, and Wisconsin. Jeanette enjoyed flowers, reading, and her dog, Cuddles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving Jeanette are her children: Kim (Mick) Ogden of Center, ND, Roxanne Wedwick of Mountain, ND, Mike (Brenda) Wedwick of Scranton, ND and Pam Ganske of Hazen, ND; grandchildren: Stephanie, Cory, Miranda, Alexis, Kenny, Danny, and Jayme; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings: Marlene (Ed) Stremick of Walhalla, Jolene (Marvin) Eudy of Gladewater, TX, Marilyn (Dennis) Smith of Fargo, Wayne (Sally) Backes of Osnabrock, Bill (Karen) Backes of Osnabrock, JoMary (Andy) Fischer of Grand Forks, and Kurt Backes of Walhalla, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LuVerne “Bud”, son-in-law Clyde Ganske, and siblings Dennis Backes and Lenore Newland.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time.
