Jean Fisk

Jean Fisk, 84, died April 19, 2016 at Villa Maria of Fargo, ND with her family at her side.

Jean was born in Olga, ND on March 2, 1932 to Fred and Freda (Beaudoin) Carignan and attended Cavalier Public Schools. She married Duane Fisk on February 14, 1956 in St. Thomas, ND. They lived in Glasston, Drayton and Grand Forks before settling in Wales in 1961 when Duane and Jean purchased the Wales Farmers Elevator. Jean helped out with the books for the elevator and was active in the St. Michael’s Altar Society, PTA, and the Wales Curling Club. Additional hobbies of Jean’s included gardening, cards of all kinds (especially whist and pinochle), traveling with Duane, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In later years, she loved playing dominos where she taught everyone to play by “Grandma’s rules”. Her favorite shows included All My Children, CSI, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. If you stopped by, you could always find her watching with the Golf Channel or CMT.

Jean is survived by three children and their spouses: Debra (Charles) Rodgers of Minneapolis, MN, Mark (Julie) Fisk of Langdon, and Jeff (Tina) Fisk of West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren: Cassandra (Mike) Larson, Hillary Rodgers, Chaz Rodgers, Adam Fisk, Aron (Ashley) Fisk, Jordan Fisk, Kaley Fisk, Karson Fisk, Alyssa Gustafson, and Brady Gustafson; three great-grandchildren: Aaliyah Larson, Makai Larson and Madden Funk as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters.

Jean was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and spent the last three years living at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo. She was deeply loved by the staff there for her kindness and gentle nature.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to service time at the church.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND
