James P. Newton

James Peter Newton, 70, of Crystal, ND, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home in Crystal.

James was born on March 24, 1953, in St. Paul, MN, to Irvin and Dorothy (Labon) Newton. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Washington High School. He worked as a barber until he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a firefighter for 12 years. After being medically discharged from the Air Force he lived in St. Paul. In 2001, James moved to St. Cloud, MN, and in 2007 he moved to Crystal, ND. He married Cindy Drobinski and had four children together: Keith, Mark, Tracie, and Jerome.

He enjoyed black powder revolver shooting, watching NASCAR, his dogs, nature walks, playing guitar, and building model cars.

He is survived by his children: Keith Newton, Mark Newton, Tracie (Allen) Hohenstein and their children Scott, Katelynn, and Jonathan; Jerome (Alison) Newton and their children, Noah and Josephine; stepdaughters: Sharon (Marc II) Brandt and their children, Ethan and Rose; Leesa Taylor and her children, Randy and Micheal; and brother, Thomas (Elaine) Newton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Dorothy.
