James A. Crockett, 57, of Langdon, ND passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND surrounded by his loving family following a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
James Alexander was born November 2, 1956 in Rolla, ND to William Claude and Cleo (Estenson) Crockett of Wales, ND. He was the second of five children in the family, sharing a birthday with his older sister Patty. Jim and his sisters were raised on the family farm near Wales. He received his early education at Border Central Schools in Sarles and Calvin and secondary education at Hannah High School. Following his high school education, Jim began actively farming with his father. In June of 1980, Jim married Robin Mackey of Edmore. Together they had 2 children, Noelle Nadine and Tyler McKee. Following the harvest of 1989, Jim began a 25-year career with Downs, Inc. Trucking of Langdon. In July of 1990, Jim married Stephanie Adam of Langdon. They became the parents of 2 daughters, Breanna Christine and Alistair Claire.
Growing up, Jim and his sisters took an active role in the daily operations of the farm, whether it was in the field or in the barn tending to the Clydesdale horses and other animals the family raised. He was raised in the Jehovahââ¬â¢s Witness faith and had a deep and abiding faith in God, as well as extensive knowledge of the Bible. Jim loved to read, especially world and military history. He always felt there was more to learn, whether from history or from nature, usually using his catch-phrase ââ¬ÅThatââ¬â¢s pretty neatââ¬Å¥ when something caught his attention. He enjoyed taking a drive in the evenings on his motorcycle, occasionally taking the 1916 Cadillac for a cruise around town, and playing video and board games with his kids. He was a hard-working man who took pride in a job well-done. He valued his co-workers, his friends, his faith and above all else, his family.
Jim was a member of the Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454, Nodak Mutual Farm Bureau and ND Farmers Union.
Jim is survived by his children: Noelle Crockett of Devils Lake, Tyler (Chelsea) Crockett of Minot, Breanna (Sean) Forster of Bismarck, and Alistair Crockett of Lincoln, ND; father William Claude Crockett of Langdon; sisters: Patricia (Allan) Bachman, Darby (Mark) Kakela, Robin (Gerald) Marcotte all of Langdon, ND and Norma (Greg) Kuhn of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Shalee, Jayden, Jasmine, Sienna, Nevaeh, Trea, Cadynn and Jace as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Cleo and nephew James Bachman.
