James L. Cranston age 90 of Cavalier, ND died on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
James L. Cranston was born May 22, 1916, at Antler, ND to Adam and Grace (Johnston) Cranston. He spent his early years in Antler and Glasston, ND and graduated from Cavalier High School. Jim then attended N.D.S.S.S. at Wahpeton, ND.
On September 8, 1940, he married Lucille Bailly at Cavalier, ND. He farmed in the Cavalier area for 23 years and worked as a mechanic at Olson Motors for 23 years. Jim also taught adult Sunday school at the Trinity E.U.B. church for 17 years. For the past two years he has resided at the Borg Home in Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Pat (Tom) Brown, Sartell, MN and Susan (Richard) Mattson, Billings, MT; grandchildren, Amy Laverman, Jeff Mattson, Penny Brown, Dan Mattson, James Brown, Brian Mattson, and Melodee Mattson and 11 great granchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Clergy: Rev. John Price.
Casket Bearers: Leland Bailly, Mike Bailly, Charles Bjerke, James Brown, Dan Mattson, and Jim Sott.
Honorary Pallbearers: Everette Bailly, Vernon Dalzell, Lyle Fedje, Robert Fisher, Bert Olson, Norman Ray, and King Thoelke.
Music: Connie Steiger, Organist. Trinity Mens Quartet, Keith Hartz, Jim Hines, Harvey Smith, and Craig Steiger.
