James Bodnar

May 1, 1956 — July 28, 2012

James Bodnar, 56, of Langdon, ND, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Osnabrock, ND.

James was born May 1, 1956 to Edward and Doris (Hahn) Bodnar. He was raised and educated in the Langdon area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Jim found a passion for his father's meat locker business from a young age. As early as 1st grade he could be found running to the slaughter house, and his dad would have to return him to school. Though he was little, he would stand on a crate and throw all the weight of his small body into the work he so loved. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. James and Tammy Romfo were united in marriage in 1977. They made their home in Langdon were they would go on to become the parents of three children.

Jim purchased his dad's meat locker in 1979, finding himself the youngest meat locker owner in the state. He loved to serve his customers and had so much pride in the work he did and the people he served. He was proud to instill a strong work ethic in his children. Jim began farming in the late 1980s and enjoyed his drive to the farm, passing the crops and having some time of solitude. He was a kind and compassionate person who helped many friends and customers. He had a big heart and would do anything to help a person in need. As Papa Jim, his grandkids were a great source of joy to him.

James is survived by his parents, Ed and Doris Bodnar of Langdon, ND; wife Tammy of Langdon; children: Stephanie (Russell) Kautzman of Bismarck, ND, Heather (Dustin) Lundeby of Argusville, ND, Tyler (Courtney) Bodnar of Osnabrock, ND; grandchildren: Alexandra, Taylor, Dru, Bailey & Reese Kautzman, Camden & Baby Lundeby, Remmi & Prestyn Bodnar; siblings: Wayne Bodnar of Richland, WA, Doug (Lisa) Bodnar of Langdon, ND, David (Teri) Bodnar of Langdon, ND, Gail (Jay) Breyer of Wales, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
