James Balsdon

James “Jim” Balsdon, 83, of Osnabrock, ND, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at his home.

Wesley James was born May 13, 1934 to Alvin and Margaret (Mirehouse) Balsdon on the family farm. He was raised on the farm and attended school in Hay Township. Jim was united in marriage to Doris Marlene Mutcher on October 25, 1959 in Dresden, ND. He and Doris raised their family and lived on the family farm where Jim farmed his entire life. In his lifetime, Jim’s passions were hunting, fishing, shooting, curling, and teaching hunters safety classes.

Surviving Jim are his children: Thomas “Tom” of Osnabrock, Lori (Tony) Evans of Arden Hills, MN, and Tina (Don) McKeever of Schroeder, MN; grandchildren: Andrew & Katrina Evans and Madysen & Masen McKeever; and siblings: Bonnie (Dale) McDonald, Irene Simons, Ethel Girodat, and Pat (Carl) Knudsen along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife of 32 years, Doris; parents Alvin & Margaret; brothers: Robert “Bob”, Howard, Alan “Ole”, John “Jack”, & William; and sisters: Barbara Reineke & Delores Girodat.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at United Lutheran Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at United Lutheran Church in Langdon. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery, Osnabrock, ND.
