Jake Fickert Sr., 85, of Loma/Alsen, ND, passed away December 25, 2008 at his daughter's home near Starkweather, ND.
Jake Fickert was born to Anton and Mary (Stremick) Fickert at Easby, ND on January 1, 1923. He grew up in the Easby area and attended Gordon TWP School.
Jake married Marcella Koehmstedt in 1960 and together they farmed in the Loma area while raising their children. Jake was an avid hunter trapper, and fisher. He enjoyed inventing different items such as a can crusher and dump wagon among many other things. He also liked to collect coins, bottles/cans, spoons, and many other collectables.
Jake is survived by his children: Roger (Rhonda) Fickert of Bejou, MN, Jake Fickert Jr.of Munich, ND, LaRaine (Thomas) Hopp of Starkweather, ND, and Karen (Lonny) Bruebaker of Garden City, KS; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sisters: Elizabeth Schwehr of Fargo, ND and Agnes Kretsch of McHenry, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jake was preceded by his parents, wife Marcella, children John Fickert and Bernice Fickert, grandson Forest Fickert, and siblings: William, Mary, Joseph, Annie, Frances, and Louis.
Prayer Service will be at 7 Oââ¬â¢ Clock on January 1, 2009 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
SERVICES will be held at 10 Oââ¬â¢ Clock on January 2, 2009 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic church of Langdon, ND.
INTERMENT Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
