J. Herman O'Keeffe

J. Herman O'Keeffe age 98 of Walhalla, ND died on October 7, 2010 at Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla. Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla. Visitation on Monday from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at the church. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery, Walhalla.
Joseph Herman O'Keeffe was born in Walhalla on May 31, 1912 to Arthur and MaryEllen (Fitzsimonds) O'Keeffe. Herman received his Bachelors degree from St. Mary's College in Winona, MN and his masters degree in educational administration from NDSU in Fargo. He served as the Regional Director of Works Progress Administration for 2 years, and 10 years as the Superintendent of schools in Gardar, ND. He was an advisor to the Technical Training Command to the US Air Force in Illinois and US ground forces in Fort Riley, KS during WWII. He was the manager and director of three divisions located at NDSU for 31 years, retiring on June 30, 1980. He was the president of International Platform Assn., the National School Assembly Managers Assn., and The Executive Club. He served as the treasurer for the Sunland Village Community and the Homeowners Assn. in Mesa AZ. Herman was the regional advisor the for National Secretaries Assn. and an analyst for the United way Budget for 12 years in Cass County ND., and Clay County of Moorhead.
He married Evelyn Beaudrie on February 8, 1936 in Leroy, ND.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evelyn, son, Robert, 3 brothers, John, Eugene, Harold, one sister, Bernice.
Survivors include his son, Dennis "Pat" (Lynne) of Scottsdale, AZ, eight grandchildren, Allison Wolf, Sean, Joshua and Christian O'Keeffe. Kristian Olson, Andrea Stopelstad, Michael O'Keeffe, and Jennifer O'Keeffe, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mildred Fraser of Walhalla, ND, and Eileen McPhillips of Couts, Alberta, Canada.
