Izak Potgieter

Izak Potgieter, 70, of Cavalier, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Assembly of God Church in Cavalier at 10:00 a.m.

Izak was born on January 12, 1953, in Krugersdorp, South Africa to Barend and Margrietha (Myburgh) Potgieter. He grew up and lived in Magaliesburg, South Africa. On July 8, 1978 he married Ida Louise Schutte in Germiston, South Africa. He served in the South African Defense Force for 3 years.

Izak was a horticulturist and enjoyed farming. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent time mountain biking and hiking. He also liked spending his time wood carving.

Izak is survived by his wife, Ida; children, Jani (Martin) Brivenboer, Ben (Elanie) Potgieter, Johan (Chanel) Potgieter and Ilze Potgieter; 9 grandchildren; brother, Lofty (Petra), and sisters, Rensche and Marie.
