Irene Knutson

Irene Knutson, age 96, of Walhalla, ND, died on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 8:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Vang Cemetery, Vang, ND. Arrangments with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
Irene Danielson was born April 8, 1912, at Vang, ND to Daniel and Bertha (Overaas) Danielson. She grew up and attended school in the Vang area.
On January 25, 1933, she married Willard Knutson at Vang. After their marriage they lived in the Vang community until moving to Walhalla in 1978. Willard passed away on April 12, 1992. For the past four years she has resided at the Pembilier Nursing Center.
She was a member of the Vang Homemakers Club and Vang Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and church organist for many years. Also a member of the Walhalla Lutheran Church. Irene was also instrumental in starting the boy and girls 4-H Clubs in the Vang area.
Survived by her children, John (Caroline) Knutson, Walhalla, ND, Bernice Heck, Tolna, ND, Ruth (Jerry) Danielson, Walhalla, ND, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, siblings, Wallace Danielson, McIntosh, MN, Grace Busse, Walhalla, Lenora Peterson, Granite Falls, WA, Edna Swenson, Everett, WA, Lois Thompson, Seattle, WA, and Carrol Williams, Bellevue, WA.
Also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Orin and Norris, sister, Florence Arneson, and a brother in infancy.
