Howard Helgoe

Howard O. Helgoe, age 92, of Cavalier, ND, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Wedgewood Manor Nursing Home in Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cavalier. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier. Howard O. Helgoe was born on June 24, 1922 at Alma, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Ella (Timm) Helgoe. Howard and his parents relocated to the Cavalier area when he was 8 months old. He attended and graduated from Cavalier High School.
On September 20, 1945, Howard was united in marriage to Esther Peterson in Backoo, ND. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Cavalier community and he continued to help on the farm in his later years. Howard served on the township board, was a 4-H leader, and a member of the Cavalier Presbyterian Church. Things he enjoyed were working in his flower gardens and he took great pride in his yard. In June of 2010, Howard moved to Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier.
He is survived by his daughter, Mae (Don) Jackson, Grand Forks, ND; sons: Larry (Penny) Helgoe, Overland Park, KS, and Floyd (Cathy) Helgoe, Cavalier; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Porter, Garden Grove, CA, Shirley (Danny) Coronado, Santa Ana, CA; brother Lee (Vi) Helgoe, Cypress, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Esther, in 1986; parents, brother, Wilbert Helgoe, and great-grandson Noel Howard Helgoe.
