Howard Florence

Howard Florence, 94, formerly of Union, ND passed away February 15, 2008 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Howard was born December 12, 1913 at Union, ND to George Edward and Nettie Julia (Thompson) Florence. He grew up and went to school in Montrose Township, Cavalier County. Howard was united in marriage to Nora Nelson on December 15, 1939 at Milton, ND. They made their home on the Florence farm and farmed. They later moved to Union where Howard worked for Bakke Homes for many years and then at J. G.Hall & Sons, in Edinburg, ND for several years. They later moved to Langdon where they have lived the last years.

Howard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a very loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. His loving wife, Nora, of 67 years passed away Sept. 15, 2007.

Our Dad was always known for his dedication for work. Work to Dad was enjoyment. He always was helping his kids and grand kids in whatever he could for them. He loved the outdoors and took pride in their home and yard in Union. It was always mowed and trimmed perfectly. Our dad never really retired. After he quit at J.G. Hall & Sons, he continued to work for his son-in-law for years on the farm. And then was busy mowing , chopping trees, painting, or whatever jobs you needed done. He was active until last April when he fell and broke his hip and then had to go to Maple Manor.

He is survived by his children: Judy Ullyott of Langdon, ND; Mrs. Robert (Gaylene) Ullyott of Langdon; Mrs. Brad (Yvonne) Bata; and Ronald Florence of Renton, WA, l4 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister, Gena Seim of Milton, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nora, son-in-law Allen Ullyott, sister Margaret Nelson and brothers Herbert and Gerald.

VISITATION will begin at 4 pm Wednesday with an 8:15 pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place on Thursday for one hour before the time of the services at the church.

SERVICES Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND.

INTERMENT Zion Cemetery, Union, ND
