Herb Winzer Sr.

Herbert Winzer Sr., 85, of Veseleyville, ND formerly of Cavalier, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Unity Medical Center in Grafton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Herb Sr. was born April 25, 1926, in Leroy, ND, to Paul and Olga (Muth) Winzer. He grew up and attended school in the Leroy, Hallson and Hensel areas.
On June 18, 1947, he married Alma Stegman at Christ Lutheran Church in Neche, ND. The couple lived and farmed in the Backoo area near Cavalier since their marriage. Alma passed away on January 19, 2000. In October 2007, he sold the farm and moved to Veseleyville to be closer to his family. He loved living there and made wonderful new friends. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Cavalier.
Survivors include his daughters: Helen (Kenneth) Gorsuch, Yakima, WA, and Sharon (Mark) Bjorneby, Bemidji, MN; son, Herbert Jr. (Deborah) Veseleyville, ND; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters: Evelyn (Duane) Ekren, Gilbert, AZ and Arlene (Alan) Thomas, Fortuna, CA; brother, James (Lois) Winzer, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Francis Winzer, Cavalier.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, wife and his brother Henry.
The family of Herbert Winzer Sr. wishes to express their deepest thank you and appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown to us during the loss of our beloved father.
