Henry J. Chaput

Henry J. Chaput, 88, of Walhalla, ND passed away on Friday, June 3, 2005, at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
Henry was born December 1, 1916, in rural Walhalla, the son of Honore and Bella (Lesperance) Chaput. He grew up and attended school in the Poplar Grove area.
In February of 1945, he was united in marriage to Clara Graveline. The couple farmed in the Poplar Grove area, and spent many winters in Long Beach, CA. He continued farming in the Walhalla area until his retirement in 1982.
He served three terms on the board of directors at the Pembilier Nursing Center and the North Olga School District Board of Directors. Henry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Henry is survived by his wife, Clara; six children, Richard (Marianne) Chaput, Fountain Valley, CA, Stan (Patsy) Chaput, Fargo, ND, Larry Chaput, Fargo, ND, Pauline (Brad) Benson, Crystal, ND, Paul (Lisa) Chaput, Huntington Beach, CA., Pat (Joan) Chaput, Walhalla, ND; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alexina Lepire and Jean Dunham; brother, Edmund and a brother in infancy.
