Helen Klaus age 93, of Walhalla, ND died on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Arrangements with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
Helen Peterfaj was born March 11, 1914, at Dulaves, Croatia to Stefan and Barbara (Sobodoc) Peterfaj. She grew up in Croatia.
On November 11, 1933 she married Anton Klaus in Dulaves, Croatia. During World War II they moved to Germany. The family moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1952, with the Catholic Organization. In 1957, they moved to Cherry Valley, CA. Anton Klaus passed away on November 22, 1972. In 1985, she moved to Walhalla and for the past three years has resided at the Pembilier Nursing Center.
She is survived by her children, Tony (Terry) Klaus, Banning, CA; Mira (John) Johnston, Wenatchee, WA; Anna (Hod) Schurman, Walhalla, ND; and Erika (Jim) Franklin, Auburn, WA; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Joe Peterfaj in Hungary.
Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Thomas Krupich.
