Helen K Kitchin

Helen K. Kitchin, 93, of Langdon, ND, died on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon.

Helen Welsh was born May 31, 1913 to Bert and Carrie Welsh in Harvey Township. She attended school in Harvey Township and graduated from Langdon High School in 1929. She went on to Valley City Teacher’s College. She taught for two years in Harvey Township.

She was united in marriage to Edwin Kitchin on November 30, 1933. She taught school for eight years in Waterloo Township, where her student’s Christmas programs filled the school house to capacity.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Langdon and was a member of the Women’s Church Circle.

In January 2001, she moved to Wheatland Estates in Langdon where she formed many new friendships and memories. She most enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. The highlight of her last four years was the birth of her great-grandchildren and watching them grow. Among the many fond memories she will be remembered for the petunias that lined the sidewalk and filled the flower boxes around her house and the many wonderful holiday meals and baked goods that she made.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, parents Bert and Carrie Welsh, an infant sister, sisters Blanche Shortridge and Vivian Soderstrom, brothers Ralph Welsh and Marcus Welsh.

She is survived by her children Kathleen (Dean) Wegner of Jamestown, son Marcus (Connie) Kitchin of Langdon. Grandchildren; Marnie (Scott) Thielbar of Langdon; Paula (Greg) Fuhrman of Zimmerman, MN; David (Jayne) Kitchin of Langdon and Shane Wegner of Mandan, ND. Great-Grandchildren Brennan and Nathan Kitchin, Morgan Thielbar and Tanner Fuhrman. Sisters Lillian Soderstrom of Devils Lake, ND and Lois (Gerald) Pederson of Langdon, ND.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Monday March 19, 2007 at the Brooks Funeral home of Langdon. There will also be visitation for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Tuesday.

SERVICES will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday March 20, 2007 at the Presbyterian Church of Langdon, ND.

Interment Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, North Dakota.
