Hartley F. Verke, Moorhead, MN and formerly of Langdon, ND,
died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN, at the age of 91.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 9, 2008, Eleven Oââ¬â¢clock, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, North Dakota
with Neil Pfeifer, Seminarian, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon with Military Honors
by Langdon American Legion Post #98.
Hartley F. Verke was born April 17, 1917 at Nekoma, ND to Carl and Caroline (Hanson) Verke. He worked for the CCC from 1935 until 1939 and in 1940 worked in Rochester, MN where he and Lavelda Klein were united in marriage on October 10, 1940. They moved to California and in 1943 moved to Langdon, ND where Hartley worked for Farmers Union Oil Company and Kellandââ¬â¢s Locker. He then served in the US Army from September 10, 1943 until March 13, 1946 in the European/African/Middle Eastern Theater. Following his honorable discharge he worked for Otter Tail Power Company in Langdon until 1967 and in Devils Lake, ND until 1974. They returned to Langdon until 1980 and then lived in Duluth, MN until 1985 and Northfield, MN until 1991 when Hartley moved to Moorhead, MN.
He is survived by one son, Duane (Mika) Verke, Honolulu, HI; three daughters, Karen (Bill) Lillibridge, Tower, MN, Maryanne (Monte) Jerstad, Fargo, ND and Linda (Dwight) Iverson, Tioga, ND; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Carl ââ¬ÅBudââ¬Å¥ (Ella) Verke, Fairdale, ND; five sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Inga) Hammer, Fairdale, Mrs. Bernard (Violet) DePlazes, Devils Lake, Mrs. Clarence (Alida) Roppel, Fairdale, Mrs. Everett (Marion) Latulippe, Fairdale and Mrs. Oliver (Selma) Jensen, Grafton, ND. Hartley was preceded in death by his wife, Lavelda, parents, brothers, Bryan, William, Lloyd, Edwin, Clayton and Gilbert and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Gerszewski.
