Greemer R. Hillman age 68 of Cavalier, ND died Monday, August11, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Wednesday, August 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Greemer was born September 6, 1939 at Walhalla, ND to Joe and Sarah (Arnason) Hillman. He grew up in the Concrete area where he attended school and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1957.
On July 14, 1961, he married Gladys Muth at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cavalier. He worked for Fiedler John Deere and the Page Oil Company. In 1967, they purchased the jewelry store in Cavalier from Clarence and Elaine McMurray. Greemer worked at the funeral home in Cavalier for Clarence Jensen and Tom Askew for several years.
He served in the National Guard for three years, on the North Valley Home Board, Cavalier City Council, Cavalier Chamber Board, Our Savior Lutheran Church Council, and the Cavalier Fire Department. His enjoyment in life came from his family and grandchildren and he also enjoyed curling, golf, and the coffee shop crew.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; children, Penny (Steve) Karel, Cavalier, ND Perry (Jenni) Hillman, Bemidji, MN, Susan (Mike) Brekke, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Bryce and Trent Karel, Lauren and Sadie Hillman, Cole and Emily Brekke; sisters, JoAnn Hardy, Cavalier, ND and Lois (William) Hardy, Walhalla, ND; mother-in-law, Martha Muth.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Lyle Hardy and father-in-law, Edward Muth.
Clergy: Rev. Adam L. Scheblein.
Honorary Pallbearers: Adrian Askew, Elroy Berg, Chapin Gustafson, Lyndon Johnson, Harold Kopf, Allan Paul, Melvin Stark, The Football Chain Gang, and Members of the Cavalier Fire Department.
