Grace R. LaRocque

Grace R. LaRocque, 92, of Walhalla, ND passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Walhalla.
Grace R. Gunderson was born September 29, 1923 near Morden, Manitoba to Hans and Gina (Vigen) Gunderson. She grew up on a farm south of Morden and later graduated from Walhalla High School.
On May 17, 1942, Grace married Dorian LaRocque at Walhalla, ND. After Dorian's discharge from the service they returned to Walhalla. Grace worked as treasurer of the Walhalla School District and also had a painting business with Deloris Mathison. She was active in the Walhalla American Legion Auxiliary and the Walhalla Lutheran Church. Things she enjoyed were golfing, crafting, and knitting.
She is survived by her sons: Dorian "Corky" LaRocque, Jr, Surpirse, AZ and Wayne (Dianne) LaRocque, Moncton, New Brunswick; grandchildren: Christopher, Carrie, Cassie; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Brett, Alyssa, Liam, Kadynce, Connor.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Dorian.
