Gordon L. Hornbaker, 91, of Cavalier, ND passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the Cavalier Baptist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Gordon was born April 30, 1922, at Backoo, ND to Archie and Twila (Hinkle) Hornbaker. He grew up in the Backoo area and attended school in Cavalier. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned to farm in the Backoo and Cavalier area. Gordon enjoyed fishing and hunting.
On February 25, 1942, he married Rita C. Rousseau in Walhalla, ND. Rita passed away August 28, 1991.
Survivors include his children: Gerald Hornbaker, Grand Forks, ND, Sharon (Robert) Stewart, Bothell, WA, Myron (Patti) Hornbaker, Fargo, ND, Twila (Tim) Donovan, North Pole, AK, Dennis Hornbaker, Hensel, ND, Linda Holsinger and Pamela (Jack) Konze, all of Grand Forks; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Cameron, Reynolds, ND and June (Paul) Karlstad, Portland, ND; special friend, Kathy Dalsted, Cavalier.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and siblings: Vern, Whitey, and Threll Hornbaker, and Thelma Moore.
