Glenn Ewert, 68, of Langdon, ND, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, at his home.
Glenn was born October 12, 1949, to Arthur and Dorothy (Klein) Ewert in Langdon, ND. He grew up in the Alsen, ND area and graduated from Alsen High School. He continued his education for one year at Winkler Bible Institute and then attended college in Wahpeton where he got a degree in diesel mechanics. Glenn worked for International for a short time then worked for Langdon Implement in Langdon for 20 years. After his father died, Glenn and his brother, Carmen, took over the family farm. Glennââ¬â¢s son, Jon, joined them about five years ago. Glenn married Blanche Dietz on October 11, 1975 at Rosehill Mennonite Church. They made their home and raised their family in the Langdon and Alsen areas.
Glenn loved hunting and curling. He was a member of the Langdon and Alsen Curling Clubs. Glenn was very involved in his churches, both Rosehill Mennonite Church, until its closing in 1992, and Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon. He was a Sunday school teacher and also taught adult classes. Glenn worked in Western Conference and was on many church boards, including pastor parish board. He also was involved in Men for Missions in Indiana.
Surviving Glenn are his wife, Blanche, of Langdon; children: Melissa (Matthew) Doucette of Maple Grove, MN, Cheri (Joseph) Simon of Portland, OR, and Jonathan (Nicole) Ewert of Langdon; grandchildren: Maddux Simon, Jenna & Gretchen Doucette; mother Dorothy Ewert of Langdon; brother Carmen (Margaret) Ewert of Langdon; sister LaRae Ewert of Fargo, ND; uncle Clinton Klein; mother-in-law Violet Dietz; brother-in-law Bill Dahlin; in-laws: Dean (LaTanya) Dietz, Donna (James) Carrier, Herbie Dietz, Marlene (Kevin) Useldinger and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; aunts & uncles: Helen (John) Benke, John (Hazel) Ewert, Dave (Harriet) Ewert, Abe (Bernice) Ewert, Evelyn Ewert, Arvelda (Elmer) Wiens; Clayton (Donelda) Klein; and Joyce Klein; father-in-law Edward Dietz; and sisters-in-law Rachel Dahlin and Debbie Dietz.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be one hour before service time at the church on Friday.
