Glen Gunderson, 92, of Cavalier, ND passed away on January 12, 2013, at the Borg Pioneer Home in Mountain. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and Masonic service, at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND Interment Bathgate Cemetery, Bathgate, ND.
Glen was born on February 22, 1920, at the home of his grandmother in Grafton, ND to Henry and Olive (Hall) Gunderson. He grew up in rural Hoople, ND and was confirmed at Park Center rural church. He attended rural school and graduated from Hoople High School, then attended NDAC for the short course in agriculture. In 1939, he moved to Bathgate where the family resided, farmed and still owns farmland. From March of 1942 to November of 1945, he served in the US Navy. Glen served as an Armed Guard & was discharged as a Gunner Mate 2nd class. On February 14, 1948, he married May Morrison in Bathgate, ND.
Glen was a member of Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Pembina County Historical Society, Tongue River Masonic Lodge, Kem Temple Shrine & American Legion in Cavalier.
Survivors include his wife, May, Mountain, ND; children: Ruth (Gunderson) Campbell, Salem, OR, Scott (Ann) Gunderson, Bathgate, , Becky (Don) Kemp, Hamilton, ND, Bill (Cinder) Gunderson, Bathgate; grandchildren: Colin and Ben Campbell; Jenni (Perry) Hillman, Paul (Sarah) Gunderson, and Beth Gunderson; Rob (Emily) Kemp, Evan and Kyle Kemp, Raechel (Torey) VandeWalle; Stacey (Spencer) Reynolds, Joe (Denise) Gunderson, and Daniel Gunderson; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Sadie, Paige, and Jack; Edith, Gunder, Shirley, and Fletcher; and Blake; brother, Marvin (Grace) Gunderson, Cavalier; brother-in-law, Duane Morrison, Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law, Adeline Morrison, Grand Forks, Geri Morrison, Bismarck, ND, Meryl Gunderson, Albuquerque, NM; many nieces and nephews and friend, Tom (Lorna) Erovick.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Byron and Daniel Gunderson, and Betty Ydstie.
Clergy: Rev. John Werth.
Music: Jonathan Ydstie, Soloist; Lon Flage, Dave McCurdy, Charlie Morrison, Kirk Morrison, Men's Quartet and Jan Morrison, Organsit.
Honorary Pallbearers: All of Glen's Grandchildren.
Military Rites: Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Funeral Honor Guard.
