Gladys L. McKeever age 87 of Bismarck and formerly of Hamilton, ND died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 2:00 p..m. at the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Hamilton, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, June 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery.

Gladys L. Smith was born January 14, 1919, at Buffalo, ND to Clayton and Lucile (Hough) Smith. She grew up at Buffalo and graduated third in her class from Maplewood High School in St. Louis, MO. In 1938, she graduated from Valley City State Teacher College and then taught school in Hamilton for five years. From 1943 to 1974, she worked as postal clerk and then as postmaster until 1978, at the Hamilton Post Office.
On May 22, 1943, she married Marvin McKeever at Warren, MN. For the past eight years they have lived in Bismarck.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 plus years and was superintendent of the Hamilton Presbyterian Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Richard (Liz) McKeever, Gilbert, AZ; Barbara Stafslien, Garberville, CA; Marjorie (Michael) Axt, McClusky, ND; Dennes (Laurel) McKeever, Hutchinson, MN; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Bob) Doan, Portland, OR and Donna (Clyde) Barnes, Lewiston, ID.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and three sisters.

Honorary Pallbearers: All of Gladys' Former Students and Friends.
Casket Bearers: Wes Argue, Norman Enerson, Bill Gunderson, Bob Keena, Greg Kemp, Dennes Papenfuss, Jack Rowe, and Bill Vistad.
