Gertrude Wild

Gertrude Wild, 88, of Bismarck, ND and formerly of Langdon, ND passed away January 23, 2007 at the St. Alexius Medical Center of Bismarck, ND.

Gertrude Nelson was born on August 5, 1918, the third daughter of Sam Nelson and Sina Melland Nelson. The family lived in the Loma area while managing a mercantile store and later farming. She attended elementary schools in the Loma area and high school at Langdon and Nekoma.

On July 8, 1940, she married John Wild and they lived and farmed in Easby Township until 1956 when they moved to Langdon. The farming continued until their retirement time in the early 1970’s. John passed away in 1988. Gertrude continued to make her home in Langdon until 2004 when she moved to Bismarck, ND where she shared a home with her daughter Pat and son-in-law Doyle.

Children of the couple include: Kathy (Dick) Witt of Flossmoor, IL; Jack (Janet) Wild of Osnabrock, ND; and Pat (Doyle) Schulz of Bismarck, ND. She is also survived by ten grandchildren – Joel (Vicki) Witt, Jonelle (Steve) Burnham, Carrie Witt, Casey Witt, Michael Wild, Mark Wild, Jennifer Wild, Susanne Schulz, Michelle (Kirk) Hagel, Dan Schulz, by five great grandchildren – Erin Misialek, Alex and Abby Witt, Nikolas Hagel, and Zachery Engstrom and by her sister Sue Lenz of Langdon, ND.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, son Michael, her sister Mae Sullivan, her half-sister Mabel Quarry and her half brother Thorman Nelson.

After a twenty-five year struggle with the after affects of cancer surgery, Gertrude died peacefully, surrounded by her entire family, on January 23, 2007 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck at the age of 88.

We are confident that our beloved sister, mom, grandma and great grandma has found the eternal peace that awaits those who walk with God during their time on earth.

PRAYER SERVICE Thursday January 25, 2007 at 7:30pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES Friday January 26, 2007 at 2:30pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.

INTERMENT Calvary Cemetery of Langdon, ND.
