Gertrude and William Schuler were united in marriage on July 28, 1936 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the reception was held at the Kordosieur farm. The couple made their home in rural Hannah, ND where William farmed. The family moved to Nekoma in 1940 where they operated a dray business and she sold cream and eggs. In 1944, they moved to Langdon and purchased a home on the south edge of town. They continued the dray business and their family continued to grow. They went into the restaurant business in 1951, purchasing the UCT Hotel Coffee Shop. They operated the Coffee Shop until July 1975. Many people remember Gertie's Homemade pies, cookies, donuts and roast beef dinners.
