Gerald E. (Gerry) Peterson, 74, of Langson, ND passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND

Gerry was born November 4, 1936 at Hansboro, ND to Olger and Mae (Richardson) Peterson. He attended the first 10 years of school at Hansboro and went on to graduate from Rolla High School in the class of 1954. Gerry continued his education at UND where he received a bachelor’s degree in Education. Gerry and Barbara Seivert were united in marriage in December of 1958. Gerry taught at Border Central in Calvin for four years and then did some subbing while he pursued other interests. Gerry was a salesman at heart; he sold cars, cookware and insurance among other things. He spent some time in real estate and most recently was buying flax straw for a Canadian company. Having grown up on the farm, he continued to enjoy going out and helping.



Gerry enjoyed his family; he loved hunting and fishing. He didn’t catch many fish but baited a lot of hooks. He didn’t miss the grandkids events and often went to babysit or spend time. He loved people and visiting, easily striking up conversations with complete strangers. He enjoyed a good debate, especially on politics. He was very dedicated to his family. As the oldest of eight children he kept in close contact with his siblings. He enjoyed tinkering on things and most often would end up “Gerry Rigging” whatever he was working on. Gerry was a member of the United Lutheran Church of Langdon.



He is survived by his wife: Barb of Langdon; children: Rocky (Mauricia) Peterson of Frederick, CO, Robin (Nicole) Peterson of Fairview, MT, Kerri (Brett) Van Camp of Drayton, ND, Kristi (Kevin) Juhl of Drayton, ND; grandchildren: Stacey Van Camp, Brandon Van Camp, Rebecca Juhl, Rachel Juhl, Brecken Peterson; siblings: Shirley Heartso of Ft. Lupton, CO, Donald (Penny) Peterson of Brighton, CO, Robert (Pat) Peterson of Denver, CO, Sharon Albrecht of Denver, CO, James Peterson of Cando, ND, Fred (Deb) Peterson of Rock Lake, ND, Alice (Mark) Albrecht of Arlington, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law John Heartso.

VISITATION will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Monday.

PRAYER SERVICE at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND with the pastor Bob Bekkerus officiating.
