Gerry N. Enerson, 73, of North Liberty, IA, was surrounded by family when he left his earthly home on Wednesday, November 23,2016, and into the arms of his Lord and Savior. Gerry fought a great fight, battling esophageal cancer for over five years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December, 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND.
Gerry was born on September 1, 1943, in Grand Forks, ND to Andres A. and Inez (McArthur) Enerson. He grew up in Hamilton, ND, graduating from high school there in 1961. He then attended Wahpeton State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On September 4, 1965, he married Annette (Toni) Spenst in Cavalier, ND. They lived in Tacoma, WA, where their daughter Micki was born in 1969. They later moved back to North Dakota, where their second daughter Kris was born in 1979. Gerry then began a 28 year career with Fairway Foods in Fargo, ND. They also owned Gerry's Foods in Kindred, ND, where they lived for 16 years.
Gerry enjoyed staying busy with a variety of hobbies including mechanical work on cars and motorcycles, golfing, boating, woodworking and creating many family heirlooms, and taking motorcycle trips with Toni. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, including attending his grandson Jake's basketball games and granddaughter Kate's choir concerts and plays. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in North Liberty.
Gerry, a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend, is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Annette (Toni) Spenst Enerson, daughters: Micki Gylten and Kristin (Matt) Brewbaker, both of North Liberty, IA, grandchildren: Jake and Kate Gylten; his mother Inez Enerson, Cavalier, ND, sisters: Connie (Rocky) Schumacher, Grand Forks, ND, Mary Ellen (Dean) Latozke, Cavalier, ND; brothers: Richard (Marsha) Enerson, Trenton, ND, and Harvey (Denise) Enerson, Rosemont, MN;, sister-in-law, Joleen Enerson, Casa Grande, AZ; brother-in-law Chad Hannah, Laughlin, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, Andy Enerson; brother, Kelly Enerson; sister, Karen Hannah.
