George B. Kopf

George B. Kopf, 77, of Walhalla, ND passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Walhalla Ambulance, Walhalla Fire Department, or the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla.
George was born August 4, 1937 at Walhalla, ND to John and Bertha (Urlaub) Kopf. He grew up in Leroy and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1955. After school he worked for several area businesses and for the past 40 years for Roy Implement. George also worked at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home in Walhalla.
He was Charter President of the Walhalla Jaycees and served on the Walhalla City Council, Walhalla Chamber of Commerce, Walhalla Fire Department, and the St. Boniface Parish Council. For many years he served as president of the Walhalla Country Club and also on the International Golf Tournament Committee. George loved gardening and attending the North Border Eagles sporting events.
On June 21, 1960, he married Bernadine Wild at Walhalla. She survives as does his daughter, Kathryn Kopf, Walhalla; siblings: Midge (Dale) Longtin, Muscatine, IA and Harold (Mary) Kopf, Cavalier, ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, James Kopf.
