George "Chub" Cook

George E. "Chub" Cook, age 80, of Walhalla, ND, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A prayer service will be held Tuesday, February 22, at 7:00 P.M. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church. Burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery. George E. "Chub" Cook was born August 5, 1930, in Leyden, ND, to William and Lena (Beaudion) Cook. He attended school in the Leyden area and married Lorrayne Lein on October 22, 1949 in Crookston, MN. He farmed and did custom farm and carpentry work and he also worked at the missile site. Lorrayne passed away April 18, 2004. He is survived by his son Guff (Debbie) Cook, Walhalla; daughters: Peggy Schmitz, Coal harbor, ND, Mary (Francis) Kalis, Walhalla, Ruth Winger, El Paso, TX, nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, two sisters, 3 brothers, and his wife. Clergy: Rev. Don Svenson.
