Geneva Elizabeth Quam, 76, of Langdon, North Dakota, died Friday, July 20, of Alzheimer's Disease, at Maple Manor in Langdon.
Geneva Backes was born March 16, 1930, in Easby, North Dakota, to Elizabeth (Delvo) and A.J. (Tony) Backes. She grew up in Langdon and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School. She attended the University of Washington, and received degrees from Interstate Business College and North Dakota State University. At NDSU she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
She married Donald Quam on April 7, 1941, in Wahpeton with Father Eckert presiding. They lived in Langdon until her death. She was active on the Langdon School Board, Alter Society, Catholic Daughters, Legion Auxiliary, and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Pat (Joann) of Welland, Ont., Canada, and Jon (Norma) of Globe, Arizona; a daughter, Liz Anne (Tom) Conmy of Fargo; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara, and her brother, Tom.
Visitation is from 1:30 to 2:30 on Tuesday, July 25, at St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon.
A private mass and burial will be held by the family.
